Positioning
Positioning is the deliberate choice of how customers should perceive your product relative to alternatives — the category it belongs to, the audience it serves, and the dimension on which it is best. Strong positioning makes your product the obvious choice for a specific person with a specific need.
Why it matters for developers
Two products with identical features can perform completely differently based on positioning alone. For developers in crowded categories, sharp positioning is often the difference between "just another tool" and "exactly what I needed."
